On March 8, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Russia, Syria, Iran and Turkey will meet in Moscow next week.
This meeting took place on the eve of the next foreign minister meeting.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian, Foreign Minister Cavusoglu said that Astana is currently the only surviving format to help solve the Syrian issue.
Currently, the parties are planning a meeting of foreign ministers of the four countries.
According to Cavusoglu, Russia has proposed to hold a preliminary meeting of the deputy foreign minister level in Moscow to prepare for this four-way meeting.
Russia is currently advocating the resumption of relations between Syria and Turkey.
Previously, in December 2022, Russia held talks between the Syrian and Turkish defense ministers, and moved to promote meetings at the foreign ministerial level, and finally at the presidential level.
